  • Prepares various reports and documents to complete investigations
  • Presents evidence and testimony in judicial settings

Police Officer Job Skills

  • Must be in sufficient physical condition to perform duties as assigned
  • Drive a police vehicle safely in both emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Physically control persons, including those resisting arrest, by using appropriate and necessary force
  • Use department approved firearms in a safe and appropriate manner required by department regulations
  • Ability to multi-task various duties at one time
  • React quickly and calmly in emergency situations

Police Officer Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Typically required to be at least 21 years of age
  • Completion of a police training program, physical agility test and pre-screening tests
