There are a lot of different ways to get motivated to keep going. Everyone has ‘those days’. Some things that you might consider doing to remain engaged:
- Keep a journal of what you are doing, where you have applied and a follow-up checklist;
- Read motivational books or even a novel to take some time to recharge;
- Do research about new potential opportunities to pursue;
- Reward yourself!
I realize that searching for work is not FUN. However, have you considered taking a different approach? This is a good opportunity for you to possibly pursue something that you have thought about for a long time, but never did anything.
Give yourself a chance to take a break and engage in some activities where you will meet new people. As one door closes one (or many others may open). Your mind is a very powerful tool; use it to your advantage.
Interested in social media? Have you considered starting a blog about what you do – or even your job quest? This will help you engage with others. The feedback you receive regarding your journey will not only propel you forward, but you might find help and opportunities along the way.
Is exercise part of your program? I know that people who know me are laughing at this because I love to exercise; I feel completely rejuvenated after I ‘get my sweat on’. Working out helps alleviate stress and if nothing else, you will get your blood pumping while improving your health and wellness.
Here is your to do list:
- Conduct some research on a new company or industry to see if your background and or skills match any relevant openings;
- Engage more on LinkedIN to network with people;
- Reach out to a new recruiter or two and establish a working relationship;
- Do something fun for you to make you feel good;
- Follow-up with people that you previously contacted to keep your finger on the pulse of any potential opportunities.
